SYDNEY, Nov. 4. Colonel Hutton haa represented to the Government that the efficiency of the forces will be impaired if the reductions proposed are insisted on, but he recognised the right of the Government to say how- much they could afford to spend on defences. Premier Dibbs, in an interview, denied that there were strained relations, but added that Colonel Hutton catne here with a lot of strong Imperial opinions, and had to learn that the things in the colony had to be done in a far different style. “He is,” says Dibbs, “ a good s6ldier, but writes and talks too much. He means well, and is a smart officer, but has much to learn in regard to official duties. When he learns this he will get on better.” MELBOURNE, Nov. 4.
Lord Glasgow has had a lengthy interview with the Minister for Railways oh the subject of railway management.
