It makes it unlawful for any per son or company to introduce alien labour and the master of any ship conveying such labourers is liable to a fine of LSO or six months imprisonment. Skilled foreign workmen may however be engaged for a new industry not established in the colony at the time of their entry. j A petition ha 3 been presented to Parlia- j ment by the Dunlop free shearers, claiming compensation for loss of time owing to their seizure by members of the Shearers' Union. Their contention is that the Government did not provide them with sufficient protection. ADELAIDE, Nov. 23. In their second innings the South Australians were all dismissed for 98, of which W. Griffen made 42. The Englishmen won by an innings and 60 runs. Lord Sheffield has offered a trophy of the value of 150 soys. for competition among representative elevens from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
