The Talune arrived from Melbourne at 5.15 ajn yesterday. She left Williaxnstown at 6.16 p.m on the 17th Lost, and reached Hobart at 8 a.m on the 19th ; leaving there at 480 p.m same day for New Zealand arrived as above. Strong south-east winds were experienced for the first 86 hours, and thence light south-west winds to arrival. The Talune sailed for Dnnedin at 6 pjn. The first of the season's wool arrived at the Bluff on Saturday from the Merriyale estate. The Hobart cable re the striking of the steamer Talune on a sunken rock turns out to be absolutely untrue. What actually happened to the Talnne was that Bhe cast one of the blades of her screw whea off Goote Island. This caused a slight shock bnt nothing to speak of. To say that a number of the passengers were thrown off their feet by the shock was altogether incorrect ; in fact a number of them were unaware of the loss of the blade till they felt the engines working erratically Capt. Chatfield, in the course of conversation, expressed surprise that snch a report should have bean cabled, and he is, naturally, very much annoyed thereat. The 'f aluna was going at full speed at the time the reported striking took place, and had she struck on a rock it would probably have taken the bottom out of her The screw may have struck a submerged log or something of that description, but it is hardly likely ; in factCapian Chatfield ratb.tr inclines to toe belief that the screw attaching the blade to the boss had loosened and given way. The Talnne will have a new blade fitted in Dnnedin. The Ooogee's triumph by 5 minutes over the Botomahana on the run from Launoeeton to Melbourne was short-lived, the "greyhound" having vines beaten the Coogee by one hour. The latter was evidently doing her best as the passage was two hours shorter than her average, the respective times being 13 and 14 honid. The Botomahana is the favourite with the travelling public.
