A few road cars started yesterday morning but returned to the stables at midday. Despite the efforts of the police the traces of several df the busses which were running were cut, the windows smashed, and the drivers forced to return with their vehicles to the Btables. Two of the busses were rushed by a crowd and overturned. Several of the itrikers have been arrested for intimidation. John Burns was among the number but he was subsequently released. ' Owing to the horsekeepeis having l>e.'ii called out 10,000 hoists are threatened with starvation. The Times is responsible for the statement that the Czar of Russia refused to form a defensive alliance with France on the ground that ahe must preserve a free hand. Mrs Gritnwood, of Manipur, has been decorated with the Royal Red Cross. ROME,'Jo*kB. An earthquake of a very severe character has been experienced in Northern Italy, and great damage is reported. In the province of Verona the shock was of particular severity and several persons were killed and many injured. NEW YORK, June 8. Patrick Egan and o'Donovan Rosea are about to return to Ireland, their term of banishment having expired.
