Sik, — I am one of the gradually increasing majority of settlers who thiuk that the future prosperity of Invercargill depends largely on increase. { shipping facilities from the town itself. Why should some 17 miles of railage be paid on grain exported to Australia when we have water to the doora almost of our merchants' stores. The late Mr J. T. Thomson, so I was informed by % gentleman formerly connected with the Corporation, and Sir John Code also, when in Invercargill, the former from a study of the subject and the latter from an examination of the chart ami information he obtained, both stated that the Inveroargill harbour could be easily improved.
