SYDNEY, Fkb. 8. Received 9th, 12.30 a.m. Zabertouche, a clerk in the Pensions Department, has been suspended. His defalcations are believed to amount to between L7oooand LIO,OOO. MELBOURNE, Feb. 8. Received 9th, 12.30 a.m. A fearful accident happened in the harbour yesterday afternoon. Two of the crew of the steamer Elingamite were in a boat alongside their vessel when a passing steamer jammed them against it. One of the unfortunate men was crushed into a shapeless mass, his remains presenting a horrible sight, while his companion, though not killed, was seriously injured.
