" Working Man." — We have receive ■ a letter bearing this signature although the writer scarcely comes within the category He violently abuses Mr Buxton for holding th* opinion that the school age should not, in the interests of tbe wo; king man, be raised to seven years as set forth by him in a recent letter in these columns. The only scrap of argument in " Working Man's " letter it contain«d in a sentence in which he says that " he Buxton} misleads the public entirely .... by presuppot-ing that children are compelled to be sent to school at the age of five > ears whereas that is a matter which is entirely optional and the working classes are more benefited than oppressed by having this opcioa." i fiat is all taere is in tae letter for j Mr Baxtou to answer ; the remainder is J neither ■' f or edific »tion nor r-proof ." — Ed.
