Auctioneers' Reports.

Wilson, Tame and Co report on the market for the week ending 21st Sept. as follows :— We have no auction sales to report for the past wetk, but have placed privately 1200 fat sheep at full values. We have no alteration to report in values, though there is a slight lull in the fat sheep market, owing to the works at Burnflide being closed for a short time, but we have no doubt prices will soon recover. Store cattle at the present time are not in great demand, especially young growing sorts, but will improve as the grass comes on. Store sheep of all classes are readily saleable, particularly hoggets, and we have inquiries for a large num her at market values, Country Sales— Our next sale at Wyndham is fixed for Wednesday, the 26th, and Thornbury on Friday, the 27th inst. Properties— During the week we have leased at a fair rental a farm of 70 acres at Long Bush, lately occupied by MrMcPhee. Grass seed is selling ■lowly at 2s to 2s 6d per bushel. Southland Hobse Mabket. On Saturday last we had an unusually small tntry of horses for our weekly sale, the fine weather enabling farmers »nd contractors to push on with their work, consequently very few country horses were offering. We had one or two i buyers for young medium draughts, and anticipate a fair demand for the next week or two. A few good hacks and harness horses are now offering, and parties in want of such hor=«s would be likely to suit themselves at a reasonable price. We sold usef nl draughts at from L 9 to Ll4 ; hacks at up to L 9 15s. Furniture Sale— We offered a large collection at our rooms during the week, and the prices obtained were extremely satisfactory Shbepskiss, Hideb, Wool, and Hobbehaib, On Monday last we submitted a good catalogue of hides and sheepskins. The sale was well attended by the trade, and prices obtained ' were very satisfactory Hides are still doll, but •we expect a better export inquiry shortly. Prices obtained were as follows : — Butchers' green crosabreds, medium to good, 4s, 4s 4d, 4s 6d ; inferior and email, 3s s 3s 3d, 3s 5d 3s iOd. Carswel', White and Go neport :— We had no stock eales during the weak. On Monday we sot through a large catalogue of sheepskins, rabbitskias, hides, .fat, etc, at prices fully up to last week's rates. Hobse Market. Slightly improved. We cleared out a good numbir on Saturday at satisfactory prices. We have buyers again for heavy draughts and upstanding roadsters for th« Melbourne market, ana vendors can rely on getting full values for the right sorts if brought forward at once.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report for the week ending 2lßt Sept. as follows i— • Wh«at— The outlook for thiß cereal is tolerably encouraging. Mark Oaue quotations fluctuate slightly with the weather and harvest prospects in Britain, but the present higher range of values seems to be practically assured, whilst some authorities look for a further enhancement later on. The quantity of prime milling in first hands in this district is »x---ttemeiy limited, but millers being fairly well supplied are not disposed to respond to extravagant demands. For really choice staples of mifliog we may quote up to 3s fid delivered, ba"s in, bnt samples of this class are the exception. Medium to good is worth 3s to 3b 3d, During the week we placed over 4000 sacks at lull rates. „..,,. „ Fowl wheat is firmly held and not a great deal offering, 2s 3d to 2a tid could probably be got delivered, bags in. Oats— The market is not so strong as last wick. There has bsen a good deal of speculation in oats in Victoria recently, in view of the increase in the duty, which tended to give a fillip to the trade all round. Shipments to Melbourne during current month are on a very extensive scale and the effect of this is becoming apparent in the decidedly weaker tone of the Melbourne market. Yalnes there are sure to suffer temporarily from the heavy arrivals. Stocks throughout JSewiiea'and are, however, within very moderate coWpass and holders are for the most patt confident respecting the future. Dealers are, however, not keen operators at present prices.
