(By Telegraph). Auckland, Sept. 20. Information has reached a French resident in Auckland tbat Gasparini, tbe New Caledonian escapee, who was supposed to have jumped overboard from a steamer whilo beiug conveyed in custody to Sydney to be banded over to tbe French authorities, is alive and has made good his escapp. Further information is withheld at present, but it is asserted that a few weeks will disclose the fact that he is safe from danger of further molestation from tbe law aud that he has reached another country, where he will havo no fear of extradition treaties.
