(FBOM OUB OWN COBSESPONDENT.) This Society held their annual gathering On Tuesday and although the weather wbb wretchedly bad the affair was very Buccesef al, about 400 people being on the ground. Mrs McDermott supplied liquid refreshments and appeared to do a good trade, while a temperance booth, and a gift auction in aid of the library fund did very well too, the amount realised being clobs on LSO. Following were the results of the events : — Quoits— li Geo Johnstone ; 2, W Eadic f Four entries. Maiden Baoe (lOOydi)— 1, Jobn Kobert•on ;2, John Hynes j3, John Friend. Eight entries. Hynßi led until near the post when Robertson came up and won by a foot. j Pukeraa Handicap of three distances — (150ydB) lit heat— l, W Collins (13jds) ; 2, F Wallis (scr),— 2ad heat— l, John Eeid (Byds) ; 2, J Mcirthur (iyda).— Final— l, Waliis (icr); 2, Collins ('3yds); 3, Jobn Eeid (Byds).— 2soyds -1, F Wallis (scr) ; 2, Geo Beid (14yds) ; 3, J McArtbnr (Byds) — 350yds— 1, McArchnr ; 2, Robertson ; 3, j Friend. Wallis, having won th« handicap, did not go for the third distance. The fioish between SLcArtbur and hobertson was exceptionally close. The result of the handicap was — 1, "Wallis (10 points) ; 2, McArthur (7 points) Collins, Or', Reid and Robertson tied for third place and 'agreed to divide. Eight entries.
