[By Telegbaph.] Wellington, Jan. 5. Thomas Connolly, for horse stealing, got two years. Mr Wilson, a bankrupt, charged with concealing property, was discharged owing to the jury failing to thd a verdict. Johnson and Sharp, charged with robbery from the Waterloo Hotel, Kaiwarra, were found guilty and remanded for sentence, Clement Harding, found guilty of obtaining money by false pretences was remanded tor sentence. Ia the case of S. D. Egen, for robbery at Palmerston North, the jury were locked up for the night. Ddnedin, Jan. 5. James Phil pot, for deserting hia wife and child, was placed under probation for six months ; his Honour stotiug that the prisoner should be at liberty to earn money. The case of Henry Davidson, charged with attempting to levy blackmail by sending a letter demanding money with menaces, was then taken. The jury anahimously returned a verdict that the prieoDf-r was guilty of a practical joke, and in reply to quesiions said this meant that (here was no criminal intent.
