Who thought my sphere I should extend, And gladly wonld "the aeedf ol" lend ') Who wa_, indeed, my warmest Mend ? My Banker 1 Who paid each cheque and met eaoh bill, And urged on further outlay Btill, Said, M Look to me for wh»c yon will ?" My Banker ! Who saw afar the coming storm ? Who bade me sign a printed form ? (If was, of course, " the merest form" My Banker 1 Who, when depression 'gan to lour, Fersook me in that evil hour, Yet had one safely in his power ? My Banker I Whe, now the clouds mote darkly loom, Calls me into his piivate room, And fills my ivery soul with gloom ? My Banker t Who that has erstwhile talked and chaffed, And at. my cautious fears had laughed, j Now.growla about my overdraft ? My Banker f Who nought of former kindness reeks, Who doth my spirit sorely vex By hinting at dishonoured chtques ? My Banker ! Who is it haunts me night and day ? Who drives all joy in life away ?
