From London, via Napier — Asterion (sailed September 4th). Captain Allman, of the Union Company's s.s. Penguin, has invented an arrangement of signals for the prevention of collisions at sea. The barque Marie, damaged on the voyage fro oi New* York to Wellington, has been examined and it is estimated to take £2000 to repair her. On December 25 a steerage pa £CD!jer, Mr Jame3 A'len, died from consumption, leaving a widow and seven children on board.
