Wesleyan District meeting.
_ — _^ . Wbdnfsdat, 24th November, At ten o'clock the financial district meetirjg commenced. In addition to the ministers present on the previous day, the following gentlemen representing several of the circuits took their leats and deliberated : — Messrs Stone, Roxburgh , J. T. Simon, Trinity, Dunedin; T. A, Walker and H. G. Kingsland, invercargill , J. J. Baker, Gore. The Rev. W. G. Parsongon, of Dunedin, was unable to attend. The meeting opened with singing hymn, 965, the secretary read a portion of Scripture, and Meosrs Hone and KiDgsland engaged in prayer. Tbe Chairman welcomed the stewards present, and expressed hii pleasure that notwithstanding the great distance soma of the gentlemen were obliged to travel they had found it convenient to be present. The recommendations sent from this district last year to Conference re alteration of circuit boundaries and new stations had all been complied, with, as the result that four additional agents were now employed in Otago. Reference was madeco Mr Flamank's illness, and sympathy expressed with him ia his affliction . The Chairman further said tbat there had been a reduction of debts on the truit property in the district. In spite of migration northwards it was gratifying to kuow that there was an increase in both raemberahip and in tb.B nuraoer of adhereats. Church properties was tbe fir«fc bu.»ine6B before the meeting. D.mediu Trinity Circuit reported the purchase of a new site on Cargill road with a budding thereon, to be utilised as an infant schoolroom, to accommodate 100; cost of ait e, with alteration of builditg, L 340. York P.ace Parsonage debt reduced £100. Mornington Oircuif — Linden Church debt, reduced by £50 Port Oh -lmers debt reduced £35 15s, Lawrence debt reduced £12 103. Gore debt reduced £H 6s. Inveccargiil, £240 in hand towards proposed panoaage. Sevral applications were received ior permission to erect parsonages and churches whico were recommended The total cost of trust propertie* in the district was reported to bi £20 227. In one or two cases the properties were reported as uninsured, and the attention of the responsible parties directed thereto. Tbe total amonnt raised oa bsh'alf of the Home Mission fund ia the district this year is £191 2s 7d, Home Mission affairs were then taken into consideration.
