INVERCARGILL.

The nominations to fill the annual vacancies in the Invercargill Borough Council were announced at noon in the Council Hall, by the Returning Officer, Mr W. B. Soandrett. They were as follows: — First Ward ; David Roche, proposed by H. Wilsob, seconded by A. Raeside. Second Ward :J. E. Hannah* proposed by D. L. Matheson, seconded by W. S'oan; D. McFarlane, proposed by John Erskine, seconded by T. Proctor. Third Ward : Alex. Sforie, proposed by D. Ross, seconded by Jno.. Thameon (storekeeper) ; Aiaoa Little, proposed by Jaa. Maoson, seconded by Jno. Thom3on (draper"). Fourth Ward: Chris. Basstian, jr.j proposed by G. L. Robertson, seconded by W. Heale. There being do opposition in the North and South Wards, Messrs Roohe and Basstian were declared elected, and a poll was announced for the Second and Third Ward seats, to take place on Thursday, 10th inst.
