McOullocb^Esq, 8.M.). .^ PROTECTION ORDER. * ; A married woman applied for ari order I protecting her earnings from her husband, a well-known citizen, and giving her the custody of het eight children, the eldest of whom was 1 4 years of age.— The applicant gave evidence to the effect that she was married to the defendant in 1872. He had been drinking for years, and.although he had kept sober for eighteen months prioi to the beginning of this year, he broke out afresh about that time, and had continued hia misbehaviour since. — Hiß Worship adjourned the oaseJiU the following morning, to allow of further evidence being obtained in support of tho application. BYLAW OASKB. A resident of town was fined 10a for allowing a chimney~to take fire. A charge against an inhabitant of East Invercargill,;who did not appear, ofjhavibg kept an unregistered dog was dismissed, no date being mentioned in the infoimation.
