LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Wellington, Aug. 18. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. The N.Z. Siate Forests Bill was read a second time and referred to the Wusto Lands Committpe on the understanding that the debate on the bill shall be taken when the report of the committee shall be presented. The Council went into committee on the Fire and Marino Insurance Companies Bill and River Boards Bill, which were reported with amendments. Mr Holmes moved amendments on the School Committees' Election Biil, with which the House of Representatives disagreed. — Oarrit-d. The Weßtland and Grey Education Boards Bill waß passed, The R.M. Courts Proceedings Validation Bill and Miuing Co.'s Bill were read a second time. The Invercargill Loans Consolidation •Bill was furtherpConsidered in committee and progress reported. Mr Rtteves' moved the second reading of llie S-amtfn'e Representation Bill. Mr Mantell moved tint it be read a eecond time six months hence,— 'Carried by 16 to 9. The Council adjourned at 5 p.m..
