MELBOURNE, July 18
Mr Service has addressed a communication to the Premier of New South Wales in which he states his willingness to abandon his opposition to the suggested delay, provided that Sir Alex. Stuart will undertake to submit to bis Legislature the 31st clause of the bill in its original form.
The wiater steeplechase meeting of the Victorian Racing Club was held to-day. The two principal events resulted as follows : — Grand National Hurdle Race — The Agent, 1 ; Guardfish, 2 ; Cockboat, 3. Grand National Steeplechase — Wymlet, 1 ; Sailor, 2 ; DeDmark, 3. Twelve horses started for this evenr, but the thrpe placed were the only ones that finished the race.
The official time for the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase is 5 mins. 19^ sees.
SYDNEY, July 18
Owing to the uneaßy feeling prevailing in England at the present time the New South Wales Government have decidod to withdraw the projected loan of five and a half millions.

The wheat market is firm. Shipping parcels are realising 3d 10d to 4s. Flour is quoted LI 5j to L 7 12a 6d, country biands ; and L 8 08, town sorts.
