MELBOURNE, July 17.
Mr Murray Smith, Victorian AgentGeneral in London, telegraphs to the Gov6'oment that Sir Saul Samuel, AgentGeneral for New South Wale?, has been instructed by his Government to urge the postponement of the Federation Enabling Bill, 60 as to admit of extensive alterations being made in the measure. The Victorian Premier, Mr Service, has invited the other colonies to protest against any delay, apd has received a reply from the Tasmanian Government agreeing to. join in the protest. July 17. The coursing for the Victorian Waterloo Oop was concluded to-day, aad resulted in a win for Rhodan, the runner-tip being Siesta, SYDNEY, July 17. The Premier has telegraphed to the Agent-General for Now South Wales a full statement of the amendments required in the Federation Enabling Bill, and without which the bill will be extremely distasteful to this colony. New Zealand wheat, 2s 9d ; a decline of 3i during the week. New Zealand oats are ld^ lower, at 2s Id. Po'llaH baa declined Id, and is realising lid per bushel. Potatoes have advanced 5s per ton, and are quoted at L 3 ss. S'igar Company's -No. 1 pieces remain at L 26 per tan.
