The Carlyle Disc Harrow takes tlie lead An exhaustive* Public Competitive Trial of Disc Harrows took place, under the auspice of the Courtenay Agricultural and Pastoral Association, at Kirwee, on the 29th May, 1884 when tlie Carlyle Disc Harrows scored the greatest number of points, the Judges' decision being as follows :— Booth, Hacdonald &Co., 1; Reid & Gray, 2 ; P.&D. At a PnblicJCompetitive Trial held on Mr Kruse's Farm at Papanui, on 10th Oune, 1884, The Carlyle Disc Harrows took First Place in every Point. Extract from official report : — The first point considered by the Judges was "convenience of handling, travelling, and simplicity of construction." In this competition the DUNCAN machine was packed ready for traveliing in 10£ minutes ; the REID k GRAY in 6| minutes ; and the BOOTH, MACDONALD & CO. in 3 minutes 2 seconds. One man only was employed at each- machine. The cftaraoter of the work both in the stuble and potato land was very satisfactory throughout, that done by the BOOTH, MACDONALD & CO. being considered the itest. The result thus was : — Kooth, Mtacdouaßd <fcCo , 1 ; Reid & Gray, 2 ; P. <&D. Duncan, 3 Committee :— Mr J, E. Hawken, Mr E. Wright. Mr D. Kruse, Mr J. Dqnald.
