AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.

J. 0. McArdell (on behalf of the British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited), reports for the week ending 23rd inst. as follows: — At the yards, Wallacetown Crossing, on Tuesday. 20th inst., the usual fortnightly sale of stockwas held when 35 head of fat stock and 233 head of store cattle and 240 fat and 1571 store sheep were yarded. Fat Cattle were ia better demand, and prices were fully 2s fid per 100 lbs over last week's quotations. We quote prime beef 22s tid per -100 lbs. Store Cattle— We penned 110 head, aad sold fio head as follows:— 20 steers, IS months to 2 yoars old at L3 ; 7 do at Ll ns ; 21 cows at L 2 iSstid; and 17 yearlings and heifers at Ll 10s Fat Sheeo — Nothing pri me forward. We sold ftO crossbred ewes and wethers at Vis 9d ; 190 do do at 12s 6d, and quote prime mutton 2}d per 4b. Store Sheep— ls7l were yarded, of which we penned 1173. and sold as follows :— 400 crossbred ewes, with about 90 per cent, lambs at los 3d ; 180 old merino ewes atSsfi.l ; and privately during the week we have sold 800 hoggets, 1500 lambs! and 800 crossbred and merino wethers at ~ satisfactory prices. At Thornbury, on Thursday, 22nd inst., we ' h<*ld a f-ale of stock at Foster's yards, when 130 head of cattle and 1200 sheep were yarded. The ' demand for cattle was very good, whilst for sheep many of the buyers seemed to think the reserves were excessive. Those, however, that were passed found buyers privately The following are the prices realised — Cattle — 9 large steers at Lfi 7s fid each ; 7 small do at L 4 12s fid ; 8 steers and 1 cow at Lo 8s fid ; 8 steers at Lo os : 4 dry cows at L 3 los ; 5 year- ings at L 2 ns ; 10 do at L22s ; 42 head young cattle at ' L2 i -is : 2 fat cows at L 6 10s each ; and several small lots at equal price-*. Sheep— 6o^two-tooth wethers at 12s ; 79 small ewes at 10s 2d; 123 fat ewes at lis fid ; 50 ewes and wethers at 10s 8d; 96 store wethers at lOs lld; 101 ewes and wethers, in fre>h condition, *t 12s; 89 ewes and lambs at 13s -Id ; and several other lots at about the=e prices. Sheepskins, Hides, Wool, &c— On Thursday, 22nd inst , in our rooms, Don street, we submitted a large catalogue of bags of wool, sheepskins, Jiide3, iL*c.
