Southern Cross Masonic Lodge.

The ceremoDy of installing the W.M. elect (Bro. Win. Horatio Hall), and the officers of the Southern Gross ' Lodge, 997, E.U., took place on Tuesday evening, in the Masonic Hall, Forth street, where about a hundred members of the craft had aesembled. The Lodge St, John, 610,5.C., was reprflsented bj the R.W.M. Bro. J. A. Preshaw, P.M. Bro. F. W. Bur'well, D.G.S., P. M. Bro. T. Findlay, Plm. Bro. A. Little ; the^ictoria^Lodge,47i, I.G.by W.M. Bro. D. McFarlane, P.M. Bro. A. Blacke ; and the ; Apariraa Lodge, 1617, E.G., by W.M. Bro.-J. Woodward: each of the visiting lodges being well represented by their respective officers and members. The following P.Ms. of the Southern Cross Lodge were also present: — Bros, J. T. Martin, W. J. Moffett, A. 0. Henderson. L. E. Reade, W. B. Scandrett, Alex. Cross', G. Naylor, and I.P.M. Bro. M. A. Ashendeni „.,•'

P.M. Bro. G, Naylor acted as installing master, and conducted the ceremony in a most impressive manner, and the effect of the proceedings was much improved by the organist, Bro.Macleod Smith, assisted by the choir.

. ; Bro. W. H. Hall, having: been duly installed W.M., proceeded to invest the following brethren as his officers for the ensuing year : — Bro. W. G. Mehaffey S.W. ; Bro. 0. Gilbertson, J.W. ; P.M. Bro. A. 0. Henderson, Treasurer ; Bro. W. Thorn, Secretary ; Bro. the Rev. H.Stocker, Chaplain ; Bro. W, Smith, S.D. ; Bro. P. 0.- Kaif Evans, J.D. ; Bro. H. MoNeilage, 1.G. ; arid Bro. A. Munro, Tyler. The business part of the proceedings being now ended, the brethren adjournei to a light repast which had been prepared by Bro. G. Prior, in his usual efficient style. The customary loyal and Masonic toasts having been duly honored and agreeably interspersed with songs and recitations, the brethren dispersed, having spent a most agreeable evening.
