Is It Fair Play !
-♦ TO THE EDITOR. g IB) _At the Salvation Army tea meeting this evening it was announce^ that those in charge were about to build a new hall, providing they could raise the necessary funds. During the course of the evening, what with cash and promissory notes, some L3OO or thereabout was raised aufficient to carry out the work. When it was found that the money was to be had, Captain Burfoot announced to the audience that Brother Ashley was to have the building. Now, Sir, I ask on whose authority Captain Burfoot gave the building to Ashley ? Why should he not have waited and taken the ordinary course of calling tenders ? Another thing is, how long has Ashley been a member of the Army? I, for one, never knew it before. la conclusion, allow me to point out to Captain Burfeot that it is the public that maintains him and the " Army " in general, and it would be better were he to consult the public on public matters instead oi taking everything on his own head.— l am, £ C> Lover of Fair Plat.
