Regarding the Gaol tragedy the jury again m,ct to-day in order to consider their riHpjymil they agreed to add fhs following to tlf-ir verdict :— (1 ) "That tfye delay in ! ra)i)ov-in<r Davidson to one of clje gaols in j the (!olon> whero prisoners sentenced to impikoument for life are confined is much
regretted. (2). They consider that a i prisoner like Davidson, whose murderous i and suhidal tendencies were known, 'j j should not under any circuinstances^hsv.e :j been c nployed in gaol;, and they would ] recommend for, y the future that the arms < be kept in a place of greajbe'v^cimty thahi '■'* the so- called armory at present in use. (3). They desire to express their admiration: of the tact and bravery displayed byMr Shallf*roßs under such trying circumstances." ' .
