Fire at South Invercargill.
A four-roomed cottage, situated in Crinan street, and the next building but one to the South District School, waa de stroyed by fire shortly af tor four o'clock, this morning. It was owned and occupied by a carrier named James Moseley. He was awakened by the smoke and had barely time to stive the lives of himself, wife, and children. A box and a few articles were all that wer« saved from the flames. Moseley is the holder of a policy for a £100 risk in the Standard office, but is uncertain whether this has expired. The fire alarm in town was rung, but the brigade did not proceed to the scene of the tire, although one or two members were present and rendered valuable assistance in keeping the flames from spreading to the stable at the back of the burned building and the adjacent cottages.
