MELBOURNE MARKETS.
The Argus of 14th November reports as follows : — HBreadstuffß are in slightly better request, but prices do not show any alteration. For flour an improving demand is reported by some, and large transactions for export are said to be under negotiation. At the public sales only a small quantity of wheat was offered, and out of this only a few lots were sold. Privately, however, more has been doing. A fair parcel has been sold at considerably above current rates, for delivery ex station. On the other hand, we hear of a parcel of medium milling having been taken np at a reduction on our quotations. Large lineß have also been offered during the day, without, however, inducing buyers to operate. Feeding grains are in better demand and prices obtained show a slight improvement. At auction some good lines of oats were cleared off at better prices than have been obtained of late. Privately, also ; prices snow a firmer tendency. A fair quantity of barley was submitted publicly, but the prices offered did not reach auctioneers' limits, and almost the entire quantity "Was withdrawn. An active enquiry has been experienced for Bugars, and some large lines have changed hands.
