The War in Egypt.
♦ . [By Cable.] Alexandria, Aug. 28. Tekmy, Arabi's factotum, has been taken prisoner by the British troops. He reports that much distress is being felt by Arabi's followers, and that great disorder is manifest in the enemy's camp. Transports from Bombay with the regiments forming the Indian contingent are now daily arriving at Suez, and the troops are marching to the froDt without delay. The heat throught Egypt is at present very intense, and the English troops are suffering severely in consequence. Many cases of sunstroke are reported in the ranks. Aug. 29. Au attack was made on Monday night by Arabi with the whole of his available force upon the British position at Kassasoin lock on the fresh water canal, a position which was occupied by a force of British cavalry on the 16th inst. Repeated assaults were made by the enemy, who were, however, repulsed with heavy loss, and eleven guns were captured by the British ; whose loss during the engagement was 120 killed and wounded.
