LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Tuesday, 29th August. In the Council, Colonel Brett moved for a select committee to enquire into the management of the Canterbury Agricultural College ; stating that there was a very unfavorable impression abroad as to the conduct of the establisoment. After some debate the motion was withdrawn, the end of the session being so near. The Council determined to adhere to their amendment in the Aliens Bills, to which the House has disagreed, and managers were appointed. The Native Reserves Bill, and the Reserves in Mining District Bill, were read a second time, withuut debate. Several bills were passed through committee, and the Council adjourned from 5 to "7.30 p.m. On resuming, the Pharazyn Removal of Disability Bill was thrown out on the voices. The Timaru Cemetery Sale Bill was read a second time. The Gladstone Recreation Reserve Bill was thrown out by 14 to 8.
