The local agents, Messrs R. D. Yule and Co., Have received the following report of tbe annual nieeting of shareholders from the head office,; via Brindisi ; Liverpool, llth August, 1881. I have the pleasure to advise that the annual meet itf g of this company took place on the Sth irist., and that the directors were enabled thereat to report very favorably upon the operations of the Company for the year 1880. That the results of those transactions bave beer. 'eminently successful will be gatherpd froni V concise view of the leading points developed in the report, which 1 proceed to giye- as follows : — The premiums received in the Fire Department, after, deduction of re-insurances, kc, show an appreciable increase upon those of the previous year, and amount to £833,078 ; the profit yielded by that branch, includiug interest on funds other than those pertainiug to the Life Department, amounting to the large sum of £247,558. In the Life Department the net premium anounts to £247,190, and after payment of nil claims and expenses, the funds of tbis Section have been augmented by the sum of A14_,131. With respect to the appropriation of the profits, the shareholders receive this year • dividend of twenty-five shillings per Share, equal to 41 per cent . on the paid-up oapital, and absorbing £120,643; while the reserve fund has b-.cn augmented by £50,000, the profit remaining being carried to the credit of the Profit and Loss Account.
