• LONDON, Jan. 21, News has been received from South' America that the Chilians occupied the Peruvians' capital, Lima, on Monday last. , Two sanguinary battles were fought between the' two forces, and it is said ttiat 7000 Peruvians were killed. The Chilian loss is not stated. Owing to the defeat of his troops and occupation of the capital, the President of Peru has fled. , Jan. 22. News lias been received from South America that the .Chilians have : followed up their success over the Peruvians at Lima by marching on and occupying Callao. The capture of tbe town was made almost without opposition. Obituary— Mr E. A. Belle Isle, an ironclad cany ing four guns, has been ordered to the northwest of Ireland. It is rumored, that her object is to intercept a cargo of arms which is expected to be landed on the coa;?t. Owing to the disturbance's which, are occurring through the strike of coat-miners a detachment ot' troops has been onlered to Lancashire, but it is considered probable that their ultimate destination Avili be Ireland, where troops are beiug daily despatched. CAPE TOWN, Jan- 22. Intelligence has been received from Transkei that the rebellion in tbat province is rapidly being quelled. The Pondomisc chief Qmdithur, with eight of his followers, have surrendered to the Cape forces, and other bodies of rebels are expected to shortly submit. News conies to hand from the Transvaal tliat the Boers recently attacked tlie town of Bydenberg, where there was a smalL British garrison, the latter being compelled to surrender. ,
