Bennett's report of the Grain, Land, and Money markets for the week ending August 2: — The produce markets are still very much (depressed, and all .kinds, of grain have, a slightly downward tendency. Hardly ' any exports have been made from this district during the \vee"k, and. should the Melbourne and Sydney markets remain unimproved, it is not likely any consignments will be forwarded from here for some considerable time. Local demand is exceedingly' small, and sales are most difficult to^make. Town and country properties are being inquired for. . Mone} is easy. ' During the week I have had placed in my hands for investment £2,000,' most of which I have lent out in various sums at 10 to 13 per cent. lam advised of a further sum of £5,000. which will ' be available in a few weeks from presentdate. Quotations for the week arc: — "Wheat, 4s to 4s 6d for firstrclass samples; inferior, 2s 8d to 3s 9d; "■■bats'. Ji .
