The .above animals are of the very highest 'class in Australia, as a perusal of their pedigrees and families' performances will conclusively show, besides which the heifers are the first up to - the present time Mr Gardiner has ofEered for sale. In fact they are the pick of the herd. It may be mentioned that Countess of Brans- " wick, the dam of Lot 1, was sold for 1200 guineas ; Roan Duchess, the dam of 3rd Heir of Roan Duchess (Lot 2), for 2000 guineas ; Duchess of Brunswick, dam of Lot 3, for 760 guineas. Lot 6 was served by the Duke of Alvie on 3rd February, 1879 ; and Lot 7 by Duke of Bridgewater 3rd, on 30th' November ' last. Lot 5. Flower of Brunswick is without doubt the finest specimen of a shorthorn heifer in the Australian Colonies. Competent judges assert that she would be very difficult to beat even in the Home country.
