Albion, s.s., from Melbourne. "" - The New Zealand Shipping Co.'s clipper ship Hurunui, commanded by Captain -Barclay, arrived at the Bluff yesterday morning. She is one of the Co.'s finest new ships,, registered 1013. tons, and was built at Newcastle-on-Tyne, by Palmer's Shipbuilding and Iron Co., in 1875, This voyage she is from Lyttelton in ballast and will at once begin loading wool and produce for London. The Hurunui is in every respect one of the finest vessels which'has loaded here. She . is fitted with all the latest improvements and has most excellent cabin accommodation, and is specially adapted for conveying saloon passengers. Her steam winch is so arranged that the anchors are weighed by its assistance and the yards worked. Captain Barclay reports' having left Lyttelton at 1 p.m. on Saturday last, with a light N.E. wind and- fine weather, which continued till Sunday, when it suddenly changed to, a heavy gale from the S.W., which blew until noon on Monday, the ship only iead reaching tmder lower. topsails. Since Monday to arrival light variable winds "were experienced, until the vessel dropped anchor off the pilot' station on Thursday, night, and yesterdaymorning she sailed up to the wharf. Captain Deuchress acted as coasting pilot on the pas-* sage down. • Yesterday afternoon ten tracks of wool were sent, alongside 'the -Hurunui, and as-, she has. no cargo to discharge no time will helost in getting her outward cargo on. board as fast as it comes'to hand. - • The barque , Australian Sovereign finished loading timber for Lyttelton yesterday and will sail as soon as the wind changes. The schooner 'O wake began* loading -timber yesterday morning. - - The s.B. Wanganui, Captain Fraser, arrived at the Bluff at 10 a.m. yesterday. She left Port Chalmers" at 7 p.m. oh Thursday, and experienced fine weather with a light easterly/wind to arrival. She discharged the principal portion of her inward cargo yesterday, and after taking in timber to-day will sail for Dunedin' at 5 p.m. The divers at work at the Ann-' Gambles succeeded, on Thursday; in getting the engine which was used to .work the, centrifugal pump. The pump also has been secured and both have been conveyed to the wharf, where they are open for sale. ' ' Captain J. Mockett, of the barquentine Dahlia, reports having left Dunedin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the 12th inst., with a light north-east breeze ; had light variable winds during the passage, arriving at Bluff at 3 p.m. yesterday.
