Mr Davis have beeVlooking at in our Athenaeum,- as I saw the Contemporary and Nineteenth" "Century Reviews on the ' table on the very day on which he saw them conspicuously absent. Perhaps his eyes wore a little, dazzled with the beauty of the room, compared with the one he 'is accustomed to, and so did not notice them. It would be uncharitable to suppose that he meant to make himself " con-gpicuous " by fault-finding, and besides it would not be polite -to strangers.— Yours, &c,
