Under date London, 26th February, Messrs Balme and Co. report :— The London Colonial wool sales opened this afternoon. The total number of bales available for the series is 260,000, including 49,000 from the Cape. Of this quantity 12,00 have been despatched to Yorkshire and the Continent. Thefirsfc day's catalogue whioh was fairly representative of the various lolonies, comprised 4000 bales. The attendance of both Home and , foreign buyers was exceptionally large, and the opening competition was extremely vigorous. Prices ranged about the sa»e as lasfc series, bufc medium greasy is a shade lower. Sheepskins, Hides and Tallow.- Our usual weekly sale we postponed from Monday last till Monday llth. Grain.— The deliveries of new wheat tnus far are very slight and no transactions of any moment bave been concluded, hence we have no basis for quotations. '1 he dema-d does not appear to be active. For oats there is a fair demand at 3s 4d to 3s 5d for old feed, and 3s 6d for milling samples. Best new milling maybe quoted at same figure, but feed is only worth 3s 2d to 3s 3d. Feeding barley is saleable afc 3s to 3s to 3s 3d; milnng. 3s 6d ; malting may be quoted afc up to 4s 6d.
