— — -»■ ■ Thursday, December 23. Present— The Chief Commissioner, and Messrs Lumsden,- Mitchell, and Wood. l4nd. David Mortoii,._applied for 106 acres, being (section 5, block 7, Oteramika Hundred. Granted. David Anderson applied for 45 acres in sections 21 and 22, block 20, Invercargill Hundred. Granted. George Printz applied for 5 acres in block 16, Invercargill Hundred, being the land between section 32 and the road reserve on the Waikiwi creek. Refused under clause 2 of the Southland Waste Lands Act, 1875. MISCELLANEOUS. A letter containing an application for land, and written in October last by Mr James Thomson, was referred back to the writer for him to furnish a description sufficiently lucid to enable the Board to decide. Several applications for land on kStewart'a Island were recommended for favorable consideration. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Mitchell— That His Honor the Superintendent be requested to direct that a surveyor be sent to Stewart's Island to lay out the land set aside for special settlement, in suitable lots. The Board also decided to obtain the Provincial Solicitor's opinion as to whether the alterations made in clauses 47 to 64 of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872, by the Amendment Acts of 1874 and 1875, apply to the Southland Waste Lands Act of ]873. The Board then adjourned.
