(FROM OTJR OWN COKKKSPQNDENT.) I regret to have to record the death by drowning of the eldest sou of Mr Q-ardiner, blacksmith. It appears that he, along with other children, waa i playing on the bank of the river, when [ his foot slipped and he fell in, and before help could be obtained he had disappeared. Efforts are being made to recover the body, but till now, 2.30, without success. 20th December. [Since our correspondent wrote, the body, we learn, has been found]
