From „ the report of the. voyage .'we! extract the 'following!: — From Port Chalrrjers < 4>rOQee.d<^ -to . Cape_ Saunderi, wb.en.ee the. Luna made for Nugget Point lighthouse, where oil aid stores were lundedV Whence visited Ruapuke Island in the Foveaux Strait, where a situ was selected for a light. Thence the Luna proceeded to Dog Island Lighthouse, which was supplied with requisites. Centre Island was next visited, with the view of selecting a site for a lighthouse"; after, which the Luna steati^ to Rugged Island. At this place, ■iiowever, there was found to be , too great a break on tho shore to effect a landing I with safety. A fierce gale prevailing in this I neighborhood, Captain Fairchild ran for shelter !'fo Stewart's Island; making Port William, where I the Luna anchored for a night. Paterson's Inl.t, i in Stewart's Island, was the next place touched I j at, and the party made an exploration of this i rarely visite.l locality. Rugged Island was again i | made for, and the lighthouse party this t me succeeded in landing and finding an excellent situation for a ligiithomo. Mason Bay, on the southwest COuat Of Stewart's Island, was visited for the I purpose of obtaining sheltsr. Anchored under | Long Island (the Land's End of New Zealand), j I but finding it. an unsafe anchorage it. was dcemod prudent to make for Small Crafts' Retreat, where a very heavy gale was safely ridden out. When the gale had subsided, Captain Fairchild shaped his course for the Sna-es, the main island of which was found easy of access. Seals and sea birds were very numerous, the island appearing to be completely covered by the latter. Soundings and; sketches were taken of these inhospitable islands, which will, no doubt- prove of value to navigators making New Zealand to the southward. In Preservation Inlet, Pinesegur Point was selected as the best place on which to estab - lish a light, and the crew of the Luna made a road to the proposed site. From Preservation Inlet the Sounds on the West Coast were visited. Theatre Royal.— At the Theatre Royal last night, "Leah" was substituted for " Lucretia Borgia," in consequence of the Company's inability to complete the necessary preparations for placing the latter piece properly on the stage. It is announced, however, that it will be produced on Monday night. This evening Mss Bessie Vivian takes a benefit, when the comedy of "Leap Year" is to be performed. During the present theatrical season, Miss Vivian ; has been one of the most painstaking and hard* working members of tho company, and as sho is an undoubted favorite with playgO3rs f we expect ( that she will be honored with a good house.
