The barque Chance, owned by Messrs Ni ;hol and Tucker, and commanded by Cupfain Gilroy, left the Bluff on Monday, on a whaling cruise. She is the first whaler that has sailed from a New Zealand port thoroughly equipped and manned with a complete crew, and her owners will therefore be entitled to claim the Government bonus of £500.
