GhiA-HAMSTOwir, July 21 The weather is severely cold. There is snow on the hills round tho town. It is reported that there are seven inches of uuow on Punga Flat. ■Wellington, July 21. A number of influential capitalists and merchants have agreed that in case the steamers belonging to the Steam Shipping Company should be knocked down at less than their value, their full worth shall be forthcoming, so that unless an outside value is offered Wellington will retain them. Applications for 2000 shares in the Colonial Bank were received to-day. The total number applied for in this city alone is 16,000. Possibly, with those from Wanganui and the other districts, there will be considerably over 20,000 allotted to the province. lv the Supreme Court to-day, in the libel case, Steele and Keogh, v. HutchinBon, the editor of the Tribune, Mr Travers appeared in support of defendant's demurrer. The Attorney- General opposed. His Honor reserved judgment. DmrEDrsr, July 21.
