A native named Hopa destroyed all the pegs along five miles of the traverse, pulling up some of them even in the presence of the surveyors. Another native also moved the surveyor's camp across the Uangitikei River. The opposition is supposed to be purely per sonal, and not of an organised character. Prompt steps are to be taken to carry on the survey, and to prevent any further interruption of it. The General Government ha7e promised to assist the Provincial Government if necessary. All the powers usually delegated to Superintendents are gazetted. as having been, delegated to Mr Bollestqn.
