METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS IN JULY, 1869. Geiteeali Remarks. — July was on the whole a fine month ; although rain fell on 18 days, the anount was usually under O'l inch ; no gales, fog?, snow, or sharp frost occurred, and the temperature was remarkably mild. The mean temperature, 43*0 deg., was nearly 2 deg. above tuo 9 years' average, and the rainfall, 4*33 inches, was I*2o in excess of the average. Barometer. — (32 deg., and sea level) — maximum, 30*224, (14th) ; minimum, 29341, (7th) ; mean, 29 870. Thermometer in shade. — Maximum, 600, (15th) ; minimum, 260 (3rd) ; mean, 43*0 deg. Radiation. — Solar maximum, 1040 (19th) ; terrestrial minimum, 160 (3rd). Hygrometer — Dew-point, 3S'6 ; vapor tension, 0 231-: ' lative humidity, '84. Rainfall. — Total, 4330 inches ; maximu-n, '• iU d7ih) ; days rainfall, 18. Cloud. — Mean amoxint, 54 (0-10). Wind .— N , 3 days ; N.E., 0 j E., 1 ; S.E., 1 ; 8., 0 ; S.W., 2 ; W., 14 ; N.W., 10 days. Anemometer. — Mean, 163 miles ; maximum, 3-30 (21st).
