The war with Abyssinia is popular in Great Britain; for commercial, geographical, and theological reasons. Three millions of native Christians are said to exist in Abyssinia, under the charge of a Coptic Patriarch. Rivalry exists between Mr Disraeli and Lord Stanley as to thß future Premiership. Italian insurrection has caused great excitement in Paris. The French Army is to be increased. Napoleon grants liberal reforms to the French nation. Consols, 94f . The United States have formerly recognised Juarez as Governor of Mexico, and the Minister has presented credentials at the city of Mexico. A severe battle has taken place on the Turkish frontier, between Turks and Montenegrians. England is seriously excited by the fear of another Fenian outbreak. Troops were under orders in London to march to garr/son Carlisle castle, and all Volunteer armouries in the country are to be guarded and placed in a state of defence. London, Oct. 10. The Pan- Anglican Synod, in session at Lambeth, has adopted and issued an address condemning Rationalism, Popery, and Mariolatry, and seeking to promote unity in the church. Garibaldi and the invaders of the Papal territory were again engaged with Pontifical troops, and it is said were defeated. The revolutionists assert that a rising will soon take place in Borne in favor of the " Parly of Action." The settlement of the Boman question has been agreed on as follows : — " Italy to take possession of the Boman provinces, but Pope * Pius to remain in Borne and retain the Government of the city till his death, when the temporal power of the Boman Pontiff is to cease. The Prussian journals still continue to denounce France in the most violent manner, and the Government also continueß to make immense military preparations. Paeis, Oct. 10th. The insurrection in Italy has caused considerable excitement here, and much distrust prevails in political and financial circles. M. Bouher, Foreign Secretary ; M. Lavalette, Home Secretary j and Sign or Nigra, Italian Minister, left Paris for Biarritz on the 2nd inst., to confer with the Emperor on Italian afiairs. Intimation has been ofiicially thrown out that the Emperor Napoleon contemplates many liberal Beforms in Government. Orders have been issued for the enlargement of Cadres of Army, but the effective force, it is said, will not be increased. M. Achille Fould, statesman and financier, died on the 6th October. St. Petebsbubg Oct. 10. The Emperor Alexander has demanded of the Sublime Porte the cession the of Island of Candia to Greece. Berlin, Oct. 10th. Queidler's Correspondence, a semi-offi-cial journal published here, says that at the recent meeting of the Emperors Napoleon and Francis Joseph, at Salzburg, an understanding was arrived at as to the person whom they would support for the successor of Pope Pius the Ninth. The City of Hamburg has refused to join the North German Zollverein. Vienna, Oct. 10th. The Emperor Francis Joseph has concluded to make no change in existing concordat with Borne, and negotiations with with the Pope for making a new one have been abandoned. Previous to this decision of the Emperor, Boman Catholic Bishops in the Empire met in Congress in this city, and declared their opposition to any change in existing concordat. Pesth, Oct. 10th. Napoleon published letters and other documents to prove that Louis Kossuth was engaged in intrigues with agents of the Bussian Government in 1849. St. Petebsbubg, Oct. 10th. At the sitting of the Bavarian Diet, yesterday, Prince Hehenlohe, Chief Minister of the Cabinet, made a speech, in which he declared that the policy of Bavaria was to seek union with the North German States, under the presidency of the King of Prussia, and at the same time to take steps for .the establishment of a firm and enduring alliance with the Emperor of Austria. .
