THE EDUCATION ORDINANCE.
(to the editoe op the southland times.) ' Sib, — Is it riot possibie that a farm of a few hundred acres, conducted on model principles, and under able management, might be made to raise the necessary funds required for cheap education ? Supposing" the Government would give the land for that purpose, and the graziers and stockholders contribute each their' moiety of etock towards it— the farm stead being raised, and fanning implements purchased, with borrowed money, bearing moderate interest — -think you not that such a plan is feasible, as carrying with it a double purpose : First, the developing of the productive power of the soil and climate, with the improvement bt' stock; and lastly* the abolition of the obnoxioua educational assessment ? — Yours, &c., AMICUS.
