Amongst the valuable objects destroyed by the recent fire ai the old Seraglio were. some ye«y interesting paintings, but happily, through the extraordinary exertions used, the collection of portraits, sent by different European sovereigns to the Sultans, including those of the Italian Doges, were saved. — Levant Herald.
