Bombay advices state that Nana Sahib has been captured at last, beyond all doubt. He was taken at Ajaniere, in a Hindoo temple, by Major Davidson and three officers. A widespread conspiracy is indicated by ins papers. An impostor, calling himself Tantia Topee, is at Salamba, with 5000 Bengal sepoys. The long protTacted siege of Herat is ended, Dost iMahonimed's troops having taken the city by storm Galle, July 14. The French steamer Donnai, for Suez, has put bank, disabled, with her screw broken. The Marian, for Melbourne, sailed on 13th July There is more tonnage in the harbor than is required. Calcutta, July n. Violent south- west gales have prevailed in the Bay of Bpngal, causing much loss and damage to shipping. Money is plentiful. There is a considerable demand for seed. Tonnage — Freight, £1 2s ; dead weight, very scarce. Indian securities show a decline of one per cent.
