TOWN BOARD.
The usual meeting of the Town Board was held on Wednesday afternoon. Present : Messrs M Ivor (in the chnir). Beaven, Monkman, Garth waite, and M'Arthur.
The minutps of the previous meeting were read and confirmed .
A letter was read from Messrs Calder, Blackloek and Co., asking permission to erect foot-steps outside their clothing establishment in Tay-street. Referred to the engineer.
A report from Mr Marchant on the levels of Jed-street was read, and, ot the motion of Mr Monkman, seconded by Mr Garthwaite, it was re3olved that the "engineei be instructed to draw up plans and specifications for loimhvr and gravelling the roidway, and to reduce the footpaths to proper levels."
It was also moved by Mr Garthwaite, seconded by Mr M'Arthur, and carried, "That tenders be called for covering drains."
Ai t?r a lengthened discussion on the artvisibility of erecting lamps in the town, it was, on the motion of Mr Oarthwirte, seconded by Mr Monkman, ultimately decided tliat tenders be at once inviced for •' erecing lamps, &c "
Mr Monkman wished to call the attention of the Board to the fact that hitherto the press received no oHicial intimation of meetings of the Board ; he thought it adv:sable, therefoie, to submit a resolution to the effect that in future the Clerk should be instructed to communicate with the proprietors of both pipers, the day and hour of every meeting of the Board. Agreed to.
Several accounts were then goiu- into and the Board adjouraed.
