" A frightful accident occurred at Wyerley Farm, on the Pine River, belonging to Mr. N. W. Wyer. Several men had been illegally removing timber during tte absence of the owners, off iand belonging to Mr. Wyer and to Mr. R. S. Warry ; the quantity taken being nearly SoO logs. On the day mentioned, one of the men named Wynn, was on the bank of the river assisting in rolling a log of yellow wood measuring about 500 cubic feet, and weighing a ton and a half, one of the wedges gave way, and the log was suddenly rolled down the bank, knocking the man on the ground, and passing partly over his body. On being pick^ i:; by two of his friends who were assisting in the operation, his face was found to be quite black, one ear completely cut off, and several ribs injured. Dr. Bell was immediately sent for, and we fear there is little hope of the poor fellow's recovery.
