Travellers on foot to leave the former place at first of the ebb, and the latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly or S. \V. gale will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horsemen in -from 2£ to 3 hours, anon foot in fron 4£ to t5 hours.
