HIS Honor the Supertntexdknt directs it to be not ificd that a Keward of One Thousand Pounds will be paid to any party -who shall discover a paying goldfiekl within twelve months from the date hereof, conditionally upon the discoverer or discoverers giving satisfactory proof to the Government that Sixteen Thousand Ounces of Gold, the hona fide produce of that particular field (being within the Province of Southland) shall have been realized and brought to Invereargill within twelve months from the date of discovery thereof. NOTICE. is hereby given lhatall persons \ illegally occupying the Town Belt are, on conviction", liable by the 76th clause of the Land Regulations appended below, to a penalty of £50. Any person at present occupying, or intending to occupy any portion of the Town Belt, is therefore required to apply to the Chief Commissioner for license to do so, otherwise the aforesaid clause of the Land Regulations will be enforced. 76th Clause of the Land Regulations : — " If any person shall occupy any Waste Lands "of the Crown, either- by residing or by erecting " any hut or building thereon, or by clearing, en- " closing, or cultivating any part thereof, or shall " fell, remove, or sell the timber growing or being " on any such land, or otherwise unlawfully occupy " the same without having a lease or license lor •" such purpose respectively, every such person " sboll, on conviction for any of the ofi'ences here- " inbefore mentioned, forfeit, and pay any sum not " exceeding fifty pounds, to be recovered in a sum!- -!
